Here is how to reconnect keyboard #A1314

Hi!

After struggling and following useless steps, I finally figured out how to reconnect my good and old pal Apple Keyboard A1314 (that compact model powered by removable batteries).

STEP 1

Check if your batteries are properly charged. This is quite obvious but essential.

STEP 2

Open System Preferences > Bluetooth. Keep an eye on the subtab Nearby Devices

STEP 3

Press and HOLD the keyboard's power button. IMPORTANT: don't let it go, even when the green light appears. Continue pressing the ON/OFF button during the process.

STEP 4

It will show up shortly in your Bluetooth preferences. DON’T LET IT GO. While still holding the power button pressed, click PAIR.

STEP 5

With the blessed button pressed, type the six-digit numbers on the keyboard, hit enter, and finally, you are free to go.

In short, the trick is to keep ON/OFF pressed until you type the numbers and hit enter to re-pair the keyboard.

Hope this helps you. The steps helped me through this annoying process many times and worked like a charm in different OS versions, including Sequoia 15.1.

-Cheers.

Thank you!!! This did the trick. I kept trying to pair my A1314 keyboard with my iPhone 16 Pro Max and kept getting a “can’t pair” error message. I had been able to pair with various Macs and my iPad… but not with the iPhone 16.

Your “DON’T LET IT GO” tip did the trick. Thanks for sharing!
