since the most recent IOS update my thumbnails in photos file are smaller.
is there any way to restore back to the original size? It’s difficult to choose which one I want to select now. Thanks.

I have the same problem. 18.1.1 has made sending full sized photos impossible even if I turn off Low Quality Image Mode or i crease the size of the photo in an album.
Prior to the upgrade full sized photos could be sent automatically. After the upgrade the photos are thumbnails.
For me this is a “deal changer”
I’ll be returning to Android when I change phones.
The Apple Tech’s have reduced the effectiveness and pleasure of using an iPhone to the point that I’d rather change than live with an impossible OS.

Thank you for your reply. Yes of course I can do as you suggested. But doing so excludes thumbnail pics from view on left and right. I’m trying to find out if the smaller thumbnails are now permanently smaller since the iOS update or if the default can be changed. The apple care person had no idea and did not offer to find out
In the gallery (Photo Library) view, using a two finger gesture - one vertically above the other - spread your fingers apart to enlarge the thumbnail images.
The reverse "pinch" gesture also works to reduce the size of the thumbnails.
I'm struggling to comprehend your particular difficulty - in particular in context of additional thumbnail images to the left and right.
Perhaps you can post a screenshot (suitably redacted, using markup tools, to obscure any sensitive or personal information). With a better of understanding of precisely what you can and can't see, I or other contributors might be better able to help.

im referring to the change in the "photos" after the 18.1 update. Seems you are okay with it and that’s great. For some I’ve spoken to including an apple care person it’s difficult now to use. I’ve had movies of my photos start unprompted. I’ve had music start to play. And yes the thumbnails are smaller. After speaking with the apple care person who said there is no fix for it I’ve decided to wait until February to see if they fix it. Otherwise I’ll just switch to android tablet.
Right? And I’ve had unprompted "movies" of my photos start playing with music. It’s a deal breaker for me. Too bad bc one of my two iPads is just three months old. But I need a nice photos app on my tablet.
