Microphone not working since iPadOS 18.1.1 update

My microphone stopped working since iOS 18.1.1… the only app that works with sound recording is Camera shooting video… that’s just fine… dictation also works… but anything else that requires a microphone (e.g., Voice Memos, Yousician, GarageBand, etc.) is a complete fail… I only get very muffled sounds unless I tap directly on the mics… I have tried every recommended fix, up to and including a factory reset… no dice… this sucks! It was fine a week ago, the only thing that has changed is the iOS update…

Have you tried to force restart your iPad to see if the issues persist?

Press and quickly release the volume button closest to the top button. Press and quickly release the volume button farthest from the top button. Press and hold the top button until your device begins to restart.

Update to this: Chatted with Apple Support, they said bring it in for evaluation and possible service. Brought it in. Verdict: "Never seen this before. Buy a new one." Thanks Apple!
