What spec should my Mac Mini 2024 have for music notation and Logic Pro?

Hey everybody! I’m a composer and use Sibelius and Logic Pro for most of my work. I’m looking to purchase the new Mac Mini with the 4 chip, but wondered what the most important spec is that I need to keep everything running smoothly throughout working. That spinning wheel of death gives me too much anxiety! I also use Native Instruments for sound samples.

What do I need to have in my system to make it best support the above please? Any helpful monitor suggestions to accompany the Mac Mini would be helpful too please. Thanks!

The specs for music production largely depends on your habits:

  • do you aim for lots of audio tracks?
  • do you use lots of plug-ins?
  • on the latter, also depends on the audio interface (UA Apollos for instances may use its internal processing and free up resources from the computer…)

Typically, ram is important : at least 32.

Internal ssd is also important : if budget is a concern, i would rather opt for larger drive (2 tb ?) rather than increase cpu. If you can do both ($$$) go ahead.

Check comoatibility of your interface with Sequoia (likely the new mac will come with it and many are just not yet up to it)
