iPad not responding to touch

I asked this question because all questions about this issue were closed and I could not reply with a solution that worked for me.

Although I couldn't turn my iPad off and it wasn't responding to my touch I said, "hey Siri," and it responded. I said "turn off this iPad." Two options appeared one was power off which I tapped and when I did, the iPad powered off. Don't know why the device responded to a tap to Siri.

when I powered back on it worked again.

I hope anyone else having this problem can fix it this way too.
