IOS 18 photos App video scrubbing is ruined

Now that I’ve updated the photos application I am unable to scrub videos nearly as effectively especially frame by frame. The video is shrunk down. You can’t zoom and scrub properly. You can hardly see where you are in the video with the tiny white bar at the bottom. Seems like such a step backwards. Apple please fix this.

Photo App iOS 18 / MAJOR Video Player GLITCH I wanted to report a MAJOR glitch with the new iOS 18.0.1 iPhone 16 Pro Max model which I just purchased a few weeks ago. As a creative professional, I often pause videos to take screenshots and use the scrubbing feature to move it forward and back to capture additional screenshots at different moments in the video. In my prior iPhone 12 Pro using iOS 17 this was no problem whatsoever. However in my brand new iPhone 16 here's what happens: Click on a video to start playing Pause the video, click on it to make full screen (annoying feature btw) and take a screenshot Start the video again and the scrubber weirdly resets itself (loses place in video) and takes me back to the start of the video. When I try and use the scrubber dragging from one end all the way to the other it only advances the video seconds rather than the full length. Only until I completely exit the video (losing my place) and exiting the video itself does it then work again having to restart the entire process and locate the exact time in the video where screenshots are attempting to be grabbed NOTE - I have installed the latest software version, tried turning the phone on/off, closing app, restarting phone, and the same issue persists. Overall the photo/video app is a MAJOR disappointment for other reasons as well and feels like Apple took ten steps back with this. Really really bad design and takes zero consideration into how users actually, you know, use the thing. Hoping Apple not only fixes this glitch but restores the photo app to some semblance of the most basic functionality. Thanks

Settings of a QuickTake video on the iPhone 16 Pro Max Why is there so little discussion on the Internet about changing QuickTake video settings on iPhones 16 Pro Max? I purchased 16 Pro Max after 12 Pro Max, and as a content maker, I am very unhappy that the QuickTake settings made the default video settings. It was the main tool in my work, for two years now I have not been shooting on the iPhone video format, only on QuickTake. And then I turn it on the iPhone 16 and see how the picture gets closer, changes the light correction, color, ceases to be complete, and this is really a big problem for me. Obviously, the video looks more interesting, more complete and even more beautiful in the photo format. Of course, the 16 Pro Max camera is even better than the previous versions and the new shooting settings make me happy as a photographer, but at the same time they have taken away a very important video function. Can Apple revert to its previous QuickTake settings in the next iOS? Maybe someone has already found workarounds or applications where you can get the same approximate image in a video in 4:3 format? I would be very grateful for any solutions to the problem..

Video scrubbing is very inconsistent on my iPhone after iOS 18 update Since upgrading to IOS18, video scrubbing is now very inconsistent - sometimes working & sometimes I can’t drag the bar across at all. I use this facility daily so this is a huge issue for me. Some friends have the same issue so not just me. Is there any solution to this? [Re-Titled by Moderator]

I agree - it is a bit of a pain. Something I found out though is that once you tap on the video to bring up the slider for scrubbing, you can actually pinch/zoom the video in again to bring it to full screen and then proceed to scrub through.

It doesn’t at any point give the fine grained level of control of the scrubbing as the previous version of the photo app had. No frame by frame feature. The new photo app is a total fail in every single way. And I say that half a year after it got updated. Normally you get used to the changes over time. Not with this failure of an app.
