@SravanKrA
I can 100% absolute guarantee that this was caused by an iOS update. I have three iPhones on different carriers, none of which I touch any settings. Period.
I updated all three of my iPhones (one 15 Pro and two 13’s), and my three daughters on 16 Pros ALL have this same issue stemming from an iOS update. They have made ZERO modifications to ANY SETTING. GUARANTEED.
To be crystal clear: this is the use case:
- i place a call from my iPhone either by typing the number directly into the iPhone virtual keypad, or calling from a contact.
- My historical experience has been that when the call is finally reaching the receiving party’s device (thru positive AK from the Carrier’s Tower and Network) I will hear a “ring” sound, which indicates that the receiving device has been reached and I’m now waiting for the party to answer. This experience has been THE ONLY EXPERIENCE for dozens of years in both analogue Land Line usage AND Cellular. This behavior is NON CHALLENGABLE with the exception of VOIP calling.
- However, since the iOS update, there is no positive acknowledgement (a “ringing” sound) that helps the Caller know that the call has gone thru. Instead there is silence. This is confirmed now on six devices on three different US Wireless Carriers.
- then, the receiving party either answers, or the Virtual Operator takes over telling you to leave a message, or that the Mailbox is not set up, or other traditional scenarios.
There Are no settings on the device that can control this. Rebooting does not fix this. This is caused BY either the carrier OR by Apple as part of their Phone App update. And suggesting a restoration is an inappropriate recommendation in this case: it is a Level One Help Deak scripted recommendations, and completely avoids the issue and does not contribute to any advanced diagnostics to identify the root cause.
So now you can flame me if that’s your mode of operation, or you can ask probing questions to get deeper into the use case. Or you can acknowledge that you too are seeing this experience and provide some insight as to what component in the Phone software changed, and if there will be an option in a new release to restore the “ringing” sound when placing an outbound call.
Im Happy to discuss more deeply with you if you wish as I’m an IT support veteran with 41 years of experience.
Stay hopeful @joycelouise… you are not alone here. And your post was spot on.
