I've been working on an 80,000 page book in MS Word and using a browser for research. I've been working during the day but the display isn't even on full and I'm getting less than 8 hours of battery life. Is something wrong?

I have a new MacBook Pro (purchased a month ago) and at the start it had incredible battery life. Now I’m getting around 2.5 hours per full charge. And I’m not running any design programs or watching video. The Activity Monitor shows nothing that’s hogging that much energy. It’s wild.
Hi but you’re talking about a few megabits of text . I purchased the m4 pro and I used it 3 times in one mouth most of the time been in the box and now it says more the. 10hours to fully charge. I haven’t even paid my fist installment can I take it back? I had much better expectation when it comes to charge max 2 hours
For whatever it's worth, my M2 16" did much better.
I have and M4 Macbook Pro and had great battery life 2 months ago but now in 2 hours I have to recharge and I am just watching video on YouTube. Anyone else notice a decline like that?
