TextEdit 'Wrap to Window' option doesn't wrap to window...

I'm using TextEdit in Rich Text mode with 'Wrap to Window' selected via Format -> Wrap to Window.

Despite this the text is not wrapping to window.

I'm using Sequoia 15.1 on an M2 MacBook Air.

Can anybody assist with this please?

Are you sure that the text doesn't have end-of-line characters imbedded in the text, ie that there is not a carriage-return and/or line-feed characters at the end of each of the lines that don't let the text go all the way to the right edge of the window??

Try the following to see - in a Terminal.app window (Terminal.app is located in the /Applications/Utilities folder):

cd "folder-name-where-file-is-located"

od -cx "file-name"

For example in the first line your screenshot shows the line ending in "has been" - do you see anything after the "has been" in the output, for example \n or other end-of-line type characters or is the "has been" followed immediately by the first words of the next line? Does this make sense??

Good luck - if you need more help in using the Terminal.app program please ask, as it can be kind of awkward to use until you get familiar with it.

Thanks for taking the time to reply, it's appreciated.

I've occasionally used Terminal following other people's precise instructions but I'm not overly confident with it. I tried pasting the bold italic text you've posted into Terminal just produced an error. I no doubt did it wrong.

In TextEdit, if I try to enter text at the end of a line it immediately 'shoves' all the text ahead of that point on to the next line down when, ordinarily, I would expect the text to simply move further to the right on the same line.
