From the iphone MacBook Pro lists in other devices, when selected after ~30 seconds it responds with "Pairing Unsuccessful", MacBook Pro is not supported.
iphone 13 pro max running IOS 18.1, latest version.
MBP 16 running Sonoma 14.5
This is expected behaviour. While there are many shared activities that require Bluetooth to be turned active on those devices, they do not require pairing in the traditional sense.
What are you hoping to accomplish?
hhmm...well i'm actually trying to connect via bluetooth from my mbp to a bose wave radio with attached blue tooth device in AUX port to play an internet radio station stream on my bose radio.
As a test I tried iphone->MBP hence the (misleading?) posting. i thought this would be a simple apple to apple test. My mbp is very new, it's a MBP 16" M3 Max.

Ha, that’s a little different issue. If the Bose Bluetooth device is placed in pairing mode, it should be visible when you open the Bluetooth settings panel on your Mac.
