Service recommendations alert for my MacBook Pro battery

I have a 2019 MacBook Pro 13in- Four Thunderbolts 3 Port. I got a service recommendations alert for my battery. Can I purchase a battery and install it myself? How much is a battery for this MacBook cost?

The quality of third party Lithium Batteries is extremely poor even when purchased from a reputable vendor such as OWC or iFixIt. If that isn't bad enough, the process to replace the battery is very difficult. OWC's product page even recommends to have their battery professionally installed. I have seen a lot of people post on this forum about issues with the replacement battery.....many times the user has accidentally damaged the Logic Board or some other internal component. If you do go for a third party battery, then make sure you take the time to properly calibrate/exercise the battery or the battery will degrade quickly. OWC has installation videos....they look easier than it really is.

An official Apple battery repair I believe is $250US. This includes a new Top Case Assembly which includes the Keyboard, Palmrest, Touchbar, Speakers, and Battery. See this Apple article for details:
