Thank you for that update. It's anyone's guess what may have happened to the AirPort Utility app, but for whatever reason it became associated with a Unix executable file as you wrote. Attempting to launch it launched the Terminal app, which naturally crashed because Terminal could not interpret that file: a "Launch Constraint Violation" was the result of that attempt.

In any event... weird.

Thank you for that thorough description. I can find nothing wrong with that network configuration, which leads me to suspect it's a localization bug introduced in the most recent Sequoia update.

Out of curiosity, does anything appear if you click the button at the upper left, "Andere wifiappareten"? There should be an option to select either Wi-Fi or Ethernet, but if your iMac is connected with an Ethernet cable and Wi-Fi is "on" there should be no difference which interface you choose. Try selecting each one. If neither choice results in changing the AirPort Utility screenshot you posted then please contact Apple. Start here: Official Apple Support. If you do not reach a resolution right away, then report it as a suspected localization bug using this page: Feedback - macOS - Apple. Under "Feedback Type" choose Bug Report.

I have no other explanation other than to suspect it's a bug which I am unable to duplicate here in the US.

The name of my LAN, configured on an AirPort Extreme is Gent-AE. The network consisted of Internet --> AirPort Extreme --> AirPort Express. Neither AirPort can be detected anymore. However The LAN still functions through an ethernet cable or wireless for my iMac and wireless for my iPad and iPhone. I use AirPort configuration program version 6.3.9 from Nov. 15, 2024 and operating system macOS Sequoia. The AirPort configuration program says (translated from Dutch) No configured AirPort-base stations found. The program continues searching. It means I have Internet access but my LAN doesn't function properly. See added screenshot.

Layman's mistake. It is not a .exe file but an executable Unix file. The info says it was made (Aanmaak) on Friday November 15, 2024, around the time of the update to macOS Sequoia. The info shows its location. Trying to open the file always results in a crash with the report reading "AirPort Utility unexpectedly crashed". However, as you said it kicked AirPort Utility into functioning again. I hope you can make something out of the report.

Many thanks again for your support.

When I click the button at the upper left "Andere wifiapparaten" the response is "No new wifi devices found" without any further buttons to be clicked.

There is no difference whether I connect to internet using an ethernet cable or wireless.

I will contact Apple as you suggested.

Many thanks for your support.

I submitted a suspected localizacion bug to Apple on Friday night. So far no reply. Out of curiosity and as a complete layman I opened the AirPort folder in Apps to see its contents and stumbled upon an AirPort Utility .exec file. Rightly or wrongly I assumed it to be the installation file and activated it with promptly an error report which I submitted to Apple. I retried a few minutes later with the same result. But, lo and behold, a bit later up came my LAN showing both my AirPort Extreme and AirPort Express, correctly configured. At the moment everything functions as before. I have no explanation to what happened but I am happy with the current situation.

That's the oddest thing. An AirPort Utility.exe file would be for a Windows PC, Windows 7 in fact, and Apple hasn't updated it in over a decade. The fact it failed to launch and generated an error report would be expected. But whatever happened seems to have kicked AirPort Utility into functioning again.

Very weird, and I sincerely appreciate the follow-up report.
