Recently my encrypted external disk stopped requiring a password for access. I don't want to erase the data to password protect. I've seen some references for this in older software versions using Keychain but I don't see how to fix this and require the password for access with OS 15.1.1 Sequoia. Anyone can help?

I don't see the name of the external drive in the Password app. I tried decrypting end re-encrypyting (each took about 3 days on 4 TB disk). Set a password when I re-encrypted, doesn't require it when I mount the disk.

did you look in keychain access for the password. I can’t tell from the original title whether it wasn’t in there or you just didn’t look in keychain access.
The password would now be in Passwords app as that has replaced Keychain Access for Passwords.
You would only need to erase if you forgot the password. You could just decrypt and re-encrypt.
I thought Keychain was replaced with Password app so didn't look. I found the name of the disk in Keychain access, deleted it and all is good now. Thanks for your help.
