Homepod Mini states it is on a seperate wifi network when trying to use alarms but is actually on the same wifi network

I have been experiencing an issue for a while now where, when attempting to use alarms or timers on my phone via the Home App or the Home Widget, my Homepod Mini states that "Alarms can be viewed and managed only when this Homepod is on the same network as this iPhone". This message is also seen on my iPad if I attempt to modify my Homepod's alarms/timers from that device as well.

However, I have confirmed that both devices are on the same network. I have confirmed this by checking the Homepod Mini's network via the Home app, and my iPhone and iPad's network via the settings app. I am able to play music fine, and my Homepod Mini can access the internet for Siri fine. It is only the timer/alarms that seem broken.

Things I have already tried to fix the issue:

  • Confirming that both my iPhone and Homepod Mini are on the same network
  • Disconnecting my iPhone from the wifi network and reconnecting it
  • Factory resetting my Homepod Mini
  • Leaving my Homepod Mini in the Default Room (as suggested in an old thread with a slightly similar issue)
  • Attempting to connect both devices to a different network

None of the above have fixed my issue, and I was unable to find another thread with the same issue I am experiencing. I appreciate any help that can be offered.

It seems that you've already tried a factory reset of the HomePod. What versions of iOS and HomePodOS are involved? Have you tried restarting your router at any point? Do you have any additional devices such as an Apple TV that can perform the Home Hub role. If so that might need rebooting too. Is your router configured to all peer-to-peer traffic? With iOS 18 it should actually be possible to configure your alarms remotely, making this error message potentially incorrect, although clearly there seems to be some difficulty communicating with the device.

What software builds are on the iPad and the Mac? Did you see a prompt about Upgrading to the new Home architecture - Apple Support at some point? If you allowed that to happen it may have blocked older firmware from connecting, although if you are able access the HomePod in the Home app, but just not alter alarms then something else is going on. I assume you are still able to set and cancel alarms using Siri.

My iPhone is currently running iOS 16.6.1, and the HomePod Mini is running 18.1.

My router has been restarted at several times while this issue has occurred, so that has not gotten me anywhere.

I don't have an Apple TV. The only apple devices I have are my iPhone, my HomePod Mini, my Macbook, and my iPad.

Yes, my router is open for all P2P traffic.

As mentioned above, my iPhone is on iOS 16.6.1. I don't have enough storage left on my phone to update to 1.18. However, this issue also occurs with my Macbook and my iPad, not just my iPhone.
