Double-clicking a photo to open it shows me the wrong photo

When I double-click on a photo to open it, my MacBook shows me the wrong photo. Also, no matter what picture I try to open, my MacBook keeps asking me about importing duplicates and I can't figure out why or how to stop it from doing so. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think I have found and fixed the issue but I still have questions.

If I open the photos app and go to "recently viewed" and I delete all of the photos there, then I go to "Deleted Photos" and I remove all of those, then I can open a photo and it works perfectly, but if I close that photo and reopen it, I get the correct photo this time, but then I also get the "Duplicates" error.

If I rinse and repeat that first part of this reply, it works until I open it the 2nd time.

I also think I know why that is happening. It's happening because I am opening the photo by double clicking it instead of single clicking it and then hitting the space bar to open it.

Is there a way to change that behavior so that I can just double click it to open it instead of having to single click it and then hit the space bar? Thanks for any info. :) (recent convert from windows to Mac, so still getting used to the way Apple OS does things on their computers)

hmmm... in the Photos.app main Library—double clicking is a way of opening a pic; more easily simply using the space bar.

Pics do not open for me with a single click.

I seldom if ever look at the duplicates section or recently deleted section to comment further.

see if there is any thing here
