My MacBook Pro has a green tint around the edges

The screen on my MacBook Pro has a green tint around the edge that appears whenever I start it up or take it out of sleep. It starts turning green slowly, starting in the upper left corner, then it spreads out and around the rest of the border of the screen. Interestingly, it always disappears after using it for a while, usually fading out in the reverse of how it fades in, yet comes back without fail after I turn it off or close the lid in the manner I described before. It’s long out of warranty and I don’t have Apple Care on it, so I can’t just cheaply replace it. Anyone here have any ideas?

Note: the grey boxes on the calendar widget were added in post to cover up some of my info
