odd folders appearing on M1 macbook & ssd drives

Hi,

Yesterday I connected a fairly new external SSD to my M1 macbook pro & it has some odd, greyed out folders on. I did a bit of searching online but didn't find anything helpful, so got on with what I was doing. Today I opened my home screen in finder & I can see there are some there also, named;

.CFUserTextEncoding

.cups

.zsh_history

.zsh_sessions

library

Does anyone know why these are appearing, whether I can delete them etc?

Thanks.
