I don't know how else to import it, its a 12 min video can i split it somehow before i add to imovie or change the resolution?

Hi,

Try downloading it from the cloud and then importing into iMovie.

You also can try exporting to your desktop and from there importing into iMovie.

iMovie supports 4k at 30fps. Check your frame rate and see if perhaps your 4k clip is a much higher frame rate.

If still no luck, export the clip to your desk top and re-format it to H.264, Mp4/AAC with the free download, Handbrake. Handbrake will do by default the reformatting per the above.

You can get Handbrake here:

https://handbrake.fr/

A simple way to do it is to open Handbrake and do a File/Open Source. Navigate to your video and choose it as the source from the resulting screen. Then do File/Start Encoding. Wait a couple of minutes for the conversion to

complete. Then save and import the converted clip into iMovie.

Is your video shot in HEVC format? HEVC videos cannot be edited in iMovie.

Go to iPhone Settings > Camera, tap Formats to check. Change High Efficiency (HEVC) to Most Compatible (Most Compatible).

For videos that have already been shot, you can use the following tools to convert the format:

Handbrake: Free video converter and DVD ripper that can help you re-encode video to MP4 and MKV.

Cisdem Video Converter: All-in-one video tookit that takes care of everything related to videos. Not free.

FFmpeg: Free command-line tool. Powerful than Handbrake but not easy to get started.
