Unable to save a Pages document (says it's locked, but it's not)

I created a document in Pages, and just attempted to edit it. It will not allow me to Save, and insists it's locked, even though it is not and I have read/write permissions. In fact, all is well. There is no alert other than I need to unlock it! What happened??

Neither Pages nor the operating system will automatically apply a lock condition to a previously saved Pages document, nor will they change the default access controls or document permissions.

Find that document in the Finder, click on it once, and press option+cmd+i. On that information panel, are either of the Stationery pad or Locked items checked? If so, uncheck them.

Is the document saved in your home directory of your startup drive, or on a remote Cloud server location (e.g. Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, etc.)?

Hiya. Thanks so much for responding. Yes, I've checked all that and unlocked not only the document, but all the folders in which it is contained (just in case). Nothing seems to work. Document permissions are fine. The documents is saved in my home directory/iCloud. I have just discovered that most of my documents (home drive) have been dated 1980 so it seems there is something wrong with my system in general.
