New USB-C Magic Keyboard and Trackpad are not working correctly

I received the brand new Magic Keyboard with TouchID and Magic Trackpad today, both with USB-C port, after connecting them to my Mac Air M3, it seems they both failed to work as a magic device, problems includes:

  1. Once connected via USB-C cable, they are not auto connected via bluetooth, I have to find them in bluetooth panel and connect manually
  2. The TouchID and FN keys don't work at all, it seems to be a simple third-party keyboard, without any Apple specific features
  3. All gestures, including 2 finger slide, 3 finger exposure and show desktop, don't work with Magic Trackpad, it seems to be a simple mice but not a touch pad
  4. Changing the movement speed of trackpad in System Preference does not affect the speed of Magic Trackpad

I'm wondering if this is a hardware issue or I need some software configuration.

I have this problem too. It's a work machine, so I can't upgrade past 14.7.1 until our company's security software is marked as compliant.

Hopefully someone finds a solution to this - otherwise I will have no choice but to return these items.

My Magic Track pad Model A3120 connects to my 2023 Imac MacOS 14.6.1. The gestures do not work. I ordered it on 11/10/2024. The computer recognizes the trackpad through both cable connection or bluetooth, but is only able to point and click and scroll when on the scroll bar. None of the other finger gestures work.

Any help to remedy this would be appreciated.

Same problem, Magic Trackpad USB-C is not working correctly on Ventura 13.7.2.

It's frustrating as even Linux got a patch to get it to work. All it takes is adding the device ID (0x0324) to the trackpad driver:

Apple just needs to release an updated driver. It's something Apple has done before: Download Magic Trackpad and Multi-Touch Trackpad Update 1.0 - Apple Support (SG)

I'm so relieved to find this thread and learn I'm not the only one. I've been troubleshooting my new Magic Trackpad for days now. I'm on a 2017 iMac and the highest macOS version running on it is Ventura (13.7.1). I checked and according to the trackpad's specs it should support this version. But from what I read here ...

I guess I'll try and buy an 'old' lightning Magic Trackpad 2 and see it that does the trick. If it does, I can return this one.

same problem here, I have a intel MacBook Pro 16" running Ventura 13.7.

I use an expensive music scoring program that don't work on newer Os's .

So this computer is not going to be updated beyond 13.

No gestures or tap to click is working on my trackpad.

I expected some backwards compatibility.

It would be nice to be able to use my new trackpad both on my locked down music computer and on my m2 work programming computer.

I updated to MacOS 15.1.1 from 14.6.1 in an attempt to get all of the trackpad features to work. But now the 2023 IMac recognizes the magic trackpad, but none of the trackpad's functions work. Before the update the magic trackpad was only able to point and click and scroll when on the scroll bar. Now none of the functions work. :(

I am running the latest version of MacOS Sequoia (15.2) on my MacBook Pro with M2 and the trackpad works but only after reconnecting to bluetooth everyday again by plugging the device to the computer using a usb-c cable. Is this a wireless or a wired device, Apple? Every simple bluetooth device can reconnect automatically but not the >150Eur original Apple trackpad? This isn't magic at all!
