HomePod sounds disgusting at times, with heavy static noises and it also loses sync with the other HomePod minis. I've tried reseting connections, the 3 HomePods, updating software. This is really not acceptable.

I have 8 Homepod Minis throughout the house...I had this situation this morning and corrected it by pausing the streaming (tapping the top of) one of the speakers for one or two seconds, then tapping to resume the broadcast.
All was well afterwards.
Update the device you used to set up HomePod to 18.1, If this is an iPhone do that, then update the HomePods to 18.1
