Why is Blood Oxygen measurement missing on Apple Watch Series 10?

I just bought a new Series 10 Watch and now see that Blood O2 measurements are now available because of Apples licensing problem. This is an important feature for me and would not have upgraded if I knew this wasn't available. I had it on my series 8 watch. When is this issue going to be redolved ?

You are misinformed. The ban was for the importation of NEW devices, not existing devices. Series 9 and series 10 and Ultra watches that were already here on shelves were allowed to keep the feature and that remains true to this day. There are hundreds of thousands of series 9 and series 10 watches with the O2 feature continuing to fully function. The ban did not affect watches previous to the series 9 and series 10.

It’s a simple as that. NEW watches imported after 1/18/2024 are the only ones affected by the ban. And only in the U.S.

Of course you have 14 days from the purchase date to return your series 10 for a full refund, no questions asked. If you just bought it you should have known that Apple stopped advertising the feature and removed all mention of it in the technical specifications way back on 1/18/2024. Why did you assume it still had the feature?

As you stated further down in your post, the Blood Oxygen feature is not available on units sold by Apple in the United States on or after January 18, 2024.

But the Apple Watch 10 was introduced on September 20, 2024. All Apple Watch 10 models intended for sale in the U.S. lack this feature.

The patents that Apple infringed on expire in 2028. Apple has not stated if they can retroactively enable this feature once the patents expire.

An agreement could be reached before then, but no one in these communities know and Apple employees that do know have all signed non-disclosure agreements (NDA) and won’t risk their employment by disclosing what they know.
