How to retrieve messages from my eSIM on an iPhone 15 Pro Max.

I have an iPhone 15 Pro Max 256 GB Running iOS v. 18.0.1. A couple of times now (not every time) when I power it on, I get a black screen showing a note that I have a message from the SIM, or maybe the eSIM. Before I have a chance to determine how to retrieve the message, the screen disappears, and I can't figure out how to find the message. Can anyone help me find this?

I take it you mean "Home Screen"; not "desktop"?

Perform an Update:

Update to iOS18.1. See if that takes you anywhere. Alternatively to updating the iPhone via WiFi, you can update via cellular, or you can update via a computer.

Thank you for the screenshot.

Troubleshooting SIM Message:

A. Reinsert the SIM Card:

Take out the SIM card and please it back in. Temporary issues may be resolved. You’d find this in the side of your iPhone.

B. Update your Carrier Settings:

  1. Go to: Settings
  2. Tap: General
  3. Tap: About
  4. Wait: a minute for update message. If nothing appears after a minute, no updates are available.

C. Contact your Carrier:

If neither of the above works, contact your Carrier. That provide you with the service of configuring York SIM Card.

Things finally worked out so I was able to snap a screenshot of the message I kept seeing. Apologies, it wasn't that I had a message to read from my SIM, it was that the SIM sent a text message (?) I just completed the upgrade to iOS18.1 through my Mac, which is connected to the internet via Wi-Fi. I'm attaching a copy of the screenshot I was able to take.

Thanks,

Don

Seeing SMS Messages:

You need to login to view the messages. It’s a matter of Security & Privacy. Go to the messages app for SMS messages.

So, this isn't your usual iMessage, or SMS message. It shows up (again, occasionally) with a black background when I first power up my iPhone, and indicates a message is coming from the eSIM. It appears for a few moments, then the screen disappears and I get my normal "desktop" screen with the icons for my apps displayed. For now, it's not manifesting itself, but if it does again, I'll try to get a screen shot of it to post.

Until then, thanks for the help and the suggestion.

Don
