I have a 2017 MacBook and I don't know if I should update it to sequoia, this is because I don't know if it will slow it down to much. I use my Mac for schoolwork and I have a couple of adobe programs as well as some CAD programs.

macOS 13 Ventura is the latest version supported on a 2017 MBP.
I'd wait until it is more finished, plus before you do I'd clone what you have so you can immediately go back to work/school.:)
