Upgrading Mail Library to MacOS Sequoia crashes

Moving from my old iMac 2015 (running MacOS 10.14.6) to my new Mac Studio 2023 (running Sequoia 15.0.1) using MacOS Migration Assistant finished without reporting issues.

But when I try to open my Apple Mail app, it shows a window titled "Mail upgrade" and shows a progress bar, which after about 20% - crashes.

I tried after again and again 15 times - it crashes again and again at the same point.

I tried clearing some temp files (I found some related question about Ventura upgrade) - to no avail. Tried rebooting then opening Mail - same thing.

The crash report also looks identical every time.

Is there any "specialized" way to do this import/upgrade in safer way? I have so many old mail boxes that are VERY important to me. Can I somehow "upgrade" them one by one, so not to lose the information?

Is there a way to "Export" mail data from the older Mail app then "Import" it on the new Mail app - without losing the history, threads, mailing tags and folders and so on?

How can I move to my new Mac without my e-mails????

Mac Studio, macOS 15.0

I found this answer here 255381553 by @xt3c and it solved my issue.

Namely, in the ~/Library/Mail/MailData I removed the files named "Envelope Index" "Envelope Index-shm" and "Envelope Index-wal", then I re-launched Apple Mail app, and this time it completed its migration/upgrade work (took a good few minutes, since I have over 75000 messages there).

For now - all my mailboxes seem to be complete and functioning.

MANY MANY THANKS.
