Roll back to Sonoma from Sequoia using a USB installer

I’m planning for the worse IF I decide to upgrade to Sequoia and it all hits the fan and I want to roll back to Sonoma. I already built a bootable Sonoma USB drive to install from. Has anyone done this yet? All of the previous Sonoma upgrades I’ve done had USB Hub issues at one point or another, i.e, not recognizing USB disks, HDMI, etc.

Yes, you can then backup, Option-boot from the USB installer, erase, install, restore.

Another option is to clone existing Sonoma to an external volume with Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper, and boot to it (Silicon Macs might be picky about that, though). Then upgrade that external test volume to Sequoia and test your mission critical apps, devices and workflows.
