Photos on SD card"not supported"? Upgraded.

When I try to open photos on my SD card, I get the "Unsupported file type" message. I upgraded my Macbook to Sequoia 15.1 from Sonoma 14, but still get that message. The SD card is plugged into a dongle that also supports my monitor. This Macbook was purchased in 11/2021. What should I do?

I'm not sure what you mean by "plugged into a dongle that also supports my monitor" Monitors usually use an HDMI adapter. An SD card needs an SD card adapter. I've had SD card adapters fail, so you may need to try another.

Does the SD card come up properly as an external drive? Can you save files to it?

Can you connect a cable to the camera directly? That lets the camera act as the adapter.

I worry that the SD card may have become corrupted, or it may need to be re-formatted. But you'd like to get the pictures off.
