I have a iMac (Retina 5K 27 inch late 2014) that has plenty of memory and runs like a charm but will not update past macOS Big Sur. It has a 4 GHz Quad-Core intel Core i7 processor. Is there anything I can do to get this to run on the current operating system? The screen is too nice to just toss.

No. If it no longer meets your requirements, see if a secondhand store which carries Apple products will buy it.
