After upgrading to Sonoma on M2 Mac some apps were behaving erratically including Mac mail and my keyboard and mouse. I installed Ventura on a 2nd Volume which runs without problems. I would like to retrieve the space taken up by the volume containing the redundant Sonoma. If I re-format the entire drive can I Safely re-install apps and data from the Ventura (sub-volume) time machine backup?

Thanks PRP, all done without a problem. Ventura now running with clean install and apps and data from Ventura backup.
I had two volumes, one with Sonoma and one with Ventura. I deleted the Ventura volume in disk utility, and the Sonoma volume (the one I wanted rid of) could only be deleted from the utility option after startup from usb Ventura installer. The option to erase the whole disk is in a tiny box top right of the screen and not obvious. Easy when you know how! Thanks again.
Hi Old Toad. No I have not, but always willing to listen to advice. Having read of other people experiencing the same sort of problems with Sonoma especially with Mac mail, having one app not supported by Sonoma, and not having the same problems on a second Mac still using Ventura, I decided to go back to Ventura and postpone further upgrades for the time being.

Having Deleted the Ventura Volume effectively made Sonoma the Only working Operating System
This seems exactly the Opposite of what your said you wanted to achieve

Have you installed and run any "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up", anti-virus or VPN apps on your Mac?
Going back to Ventura from Sonoma.
