Template show sideways. Hard to work with.

I have a template where the left side of the page is at the top, and as I type, the words go down instead of left to right. It would print horizontal, but shows vertical on my computer screen. The layout is precise and I don't want to alter anything but I would like to view it left to right while I work and then put it back to print. Selecting horizontal page orientation under document makes it loose most of the formatting. I tried copying to a horizontal doc and that didn't work either, just crammed it all together.

Thanks for any guidance on this since I am not able to find the answer anywhere. (Or I don't know how to ask the question).
