iMovie Clip management

Used to be so much easier to manage clips. If I wanted to clip something out but save it in the project media for later, I could just drag it from timeline to the media window. I see no way to do that any more. Whatever happened to this once beautiful product? I guess it was sacrificed for a new button on an iPhone somewhere.

Hi,

With Mac iMovie, you can delete the clip from the timeline ( Control-click on clip > choose Delete from pop up menu) and it will delete from the timeline but automatically remain in the Project Media screen, without any edits that you may have made. If you want to keep the edits, you need to Select/Edit/Copy the clip, and then Edit/Paste the clip into the timeline of a newly created project that you can use as a sort of library from which you can use the same procedure to copy and paste the clip into any other project.
