Displaying date and time in iPhone Messages app
I would like to see the date & time a message is sent or received in the app.
What settings are necessary to accomplish this?

The date and time are already there. Put your finger on any message and pull to the left. You'll see the timestamps. The date is shown just above the first message of the day.

Agreed. The app should have the option to show timestamps always. It's not always ergonomically easy to swipe and hold left and this is a basic function that really should have been there from the start.
