The quick answer is no.
But there are two other options: You can customize the shape of the x-fade in the Region Inspector under Curve or with the Fade tool. The second option is more of a workaround, but pretty precise: you could distribute the regions to separate tracks (with the same settings) and create fade-ins and fade-outs as you like.
I just spoke to apple and the agent wasnt sure but after asking his colleagues they seem to believe that logic does in fact extend the regions of 2 adjacent (non overlapped) regions in the background to overlap for the duration of the crossfade. I would think it would have to work this way otherwise what is the point of the crossfade if the regions dont overlap.
And with that being the case yes I now I have moving the split points (with or without crossfades) down to 2 steps of 1. trimming 2. Key command trim region start to previous region or region end to next region (depending which way I want to move the split point). Thats not too bad. Still eould be nice to be able to do it 1 step and be able to move multiple split points simultaneously.
