I have a 2 in 1 question (4K gameplay video from your PS5 to your Mac)

I have a 2 in 1 question...

1) When you first transfer your 4K webm gameplay video from your PS5 to your Mac you open it and it opens in your web browser and it looks perfect, but as soon as you convert the webm file the mp4 the colour changes badly and really pale and dull. How on earth do I convert and keep the colour the same?

2) I have this Mac…

2023 Mac Pro

Apple M2 Ultra with 24-core CPU, 60-core GPU, 32‑core Neural Engine

64GB unified memory

Main Mac Storage 8TB SSD

With Two Separate PCIe Cards Storage 24TB SSD for Movies & Video (24TB per PCIe Card, so 48TB in all)

I’m running macOS Sequoia - Version 15.0.1

I'm really hoping is the a capture card for my Mac to get 4K60 quality from my PS5 to my mac and over a hour of content. Is there anything like that for Mac?

Mac Pro, macOS 15.0

A 4K capture card for your Mac to capture ps5 footage? Oh my yes, there sure is…some different models and manufacturers… elgato, to name one… black magic design, maybe ? I don’t have any experience with that at all( or a ps5 either) but .webm is crap quality… see if you can capture in .mp4 format then export it to your Mac… what capture device are you using already ahh… you aren’t … anyways google might be your friend, Amazon perhaps ? Ahhh.. HERE… ps5 info that’s helpful :

https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/games/capture-ps5-gameplay-screenshots/… tells you how to change the format + quality of captured footage on your ps5… eg file type and resolution… how about that? Does that get me a free ps5?? or a really cheap one?? No?? Ah well, it was worth a try( just kidding🤣 I know free ps5’s ain’t happening) really cheap?? Working ones? Yeah, thats a big “nope”, too…

Hi thanks for getting back to me. I'm a bit confused about some things..

On the PS5 Video Settings I'm on "Manual Recording Resolution" and for 4K you need to click 3840x2160p but your only option is to have WebM format.. I think you said the best way to record Gameplay is in mp4 however on the PS5 the only way to record mp4 is in 1920x1080p and I dont want HD I want to record / capture in 4K.

Unless I've massively miss-understood you I assume I would hook up a 4K60 Capture Card (which are very very rare for Mac) from the PS4 to my Mac I assume i would set the Capture Card settings to capture in 4K60?

I only know one capture card for Mac but its only 4k30...

Do you mean get this

or get this

Okay, KainsTorment, I ‘ll try ( nice name btw)maybe this might help : .. i don’t have a ps5 at all, so i don’t know really what it can and can’t do..apparently it records at a lower quality because 4K footage takes up a ton of space and uses lots of cpu and gpu power… Ahhh.., ok… natively ( no capture card at all) the ps5 supports only WEBM to capture games in QHD… so apart from messing with the quality settings on the ps5 for recording gameplay footage there’s not a lot else you can do without a capture card+ appropriate software/apps and your Mac… yes, you could do 4K with a capture card… and that would be its final resolution.. so what you played ( and saw) on your PS5 would be what you would get.. eg you played it in 4K, you’d get 4K game capture footage ( or whatever resolution you wanted) basically Mac+!game capture card + software all together do the heavy lifting and you get your 4K footage … I only mentioned 2 makers as they were the only ones that came to mind … if you went on Amazon, I’m sure you’d find a few more… works with Mac and PC.., sure, no big restrictions there… maybe the only ones would be your budget for this and how easy, smart and powerful the software/apps+ your Mac is… if you were to look on Amazon you’d find a ton of them rated 4 stars and up from prices up to $720+ shipping& taxes… which is the best for you for sure?? That I don’t know… try asking on a ps5 forum.. other ps5 owners and users can help you out better and more than I could..

Ay-Ya !!!
