Holding key to reveal accents no longer working in MacOS Sequoia!
With the recent update to MacOS (MacOS Sequoia 15.0.1), my computer has been dumbed down in several ways! MacOS 15.0.1 is so apparently buggy that it is not funny.
To be clear, up until this recent update, holding down a key revealed an on-screen pop-up that would reveal other options for using that letter. It looked like this;
Selecting the number below the letter (and its accompanying accent), then insert that particular version of the letter into the place where your cursor was.
This feature is now not working.
What is concerning is that we are being told to boot into safe mode, see if this issue repeats itself there, and then, if so, do a clean installation of MacOS.
Are you kidding? This is so blatantly lousy execution on Apple's part, and asking us to spend time toying with our previously fine machines is not funny. The time and effort required to wipe down a computer, set it back up again, and then potentially face the same issue is not simply like snapping one's fingers. It's a significant inconvenience and a waste of our time.
Updates need to be better than this!
Not coincidentally, the keyboard shortcut Control + Command + Space to open the Character Viewer is also not working correctly. 😠
