Changing font and size in LaTex expressions

I am using 'xFormula' on a Mac to write some equations for a paper and I am finding it difficult to change the font type and size. I have seen posts elsewhere about using all sorts of code, such as \scalebox, but I don't see any of that type of code in the equation editor.

Here is the code as shown in the editor:

\nabla =x\frac{\partial}{\partial x} +y\frac{\partial}{\partial y} +z\frac{\partial}{\partial z}

which looks like this:

When inserted into my document, the result is a bit too large compared to my main text font, which is 12.5 Arial Narrow, so is there a straightforward way to tweak the font and size to match better?

Thank you

Apple's equation editor in Pages is not based on any installation of TeX and is simply a limited syntax TeX/LaTeX converter to MathML. It does not permit any \usepackage statements or any custom font statements, and what it can do is limited to the documentation in the blahtex translator documentation found in Apple's article that I mentioned in Pages Math Equations LaTeX ML Shortcuts/T… - Apple Community. The AppleScript in that post still works in Pages v14.2 on Sequoia v15.0.1.

You can select that equation in Pages and increase/decrease its size by correspondingly changing the Pages font size, but it does not change the basic font used by the blahtex translator.

If you want more control over the La/TeX equations in Pages, you may wish to look into the third-party Overleaf.

There are plenty of free [La]TeX generator websites on the web that allow for image or PDF downloads without spending money on a link to a paid product in the Mac App Store.

Any generated [La]TeX code from applications or web tools will likely assume one has a full TeX distribution installed and would most likely be incompatible with the restricted Blahtex translator support in the Pages equation editor.

If you receive any financial gain from posting a link to MathCapture, you should disclose that and if true, the Apple hosts may remove the link.
