Albums don’t contain the photos, they contain references to the photos.

photos are stored in the main library.

When you drag a photo into an album, it doesn’t ever leave the main library.

A reference is added.

When the photo album is deleted, the album is deleted.

But the photos are still stored in the photo library, and are still present.

This is how you can have the same photo in two or twelve albums, and without needing all the extra storage.

But if you permanently delete the photos, then the photos are gone.

The photos are still in your photo library, and are fine.

Deleting an album does not delete the photos.

You’ll have to recreate the album and re-add the photos.
