Oceanic+ app for Apple Watch won’t launch anymore

I used the app on my ultra 2 watch in June with no issues. Now on day one of diving in Roatan the app won’t launch - it try’s to for a half a second and then fails. Phone app works fine. I’ve restarted watch and reinstalled app on watch but no change. Is this an issue with the latest version? I’m running 3.01 of the app.

Exactly, I understand that updates are vital and needed. But they should send an advance notice or allow the older version to work when it comes to an app that can have such an impact on activities, such as being out on a dive trip and unable to do the update. Come on Apple/Oceanic!!!

Thanks. I contacted the link for the app developer in the App Store but haven’t heard back yet. In the mean time, I did get it working by updating.

even though the watch said it was running watch OS 11.01, it updated to the 11.01 again after I updated my iPhone to IOS 18.0.1. After all of that it is now launching correctly. Thanks for the quick reply.

The Oceanic+ stopped working when I had iOS17 and older version of the watch OS. I just updated my iPhone14+ to iOS 18.1 and the Apple Watch Ultra 2 to watchOS 11.0.1. and it still doesn’t work. I then reinstalled the Oceanic+ app on the watch and still nothing. I hope Apple or Oceanic will at least refund the subscription I paid. Very disappointing experience. I am going back to my trusty Suunto D5. The Apple Watch Ultra is a joke. Worst Apple purchase so far.

Customers are being sold and paying for a dive computer and just before entering the water discovering that one of the most important safety tools for their dive has been disabled not due to a failure to pay the subscription fee or a failure of the device but instead bad programming or bad policy. You are endangering your customers. I understand the need for updates but please think about the consequences of deactivating someone’s dive computer or hire or consult with someone who can.

Ditto to the comments above! I purchased my iWatch Ultra in March and used the Oceanic app diving St Vincents in April and the app functioned properly but diving now in Cozumel for the last few days I attempted to launch the app on my iWatch, which never worked despite the same repeated attempts at removing the app and reloading and making sure that GPS was turned on. Being out of the US at the moment, I cannot reinstall the latest iOS on my iPhone. Ugh! Glad I bought a Mares Puck 4 dive computer as a back-up! $350 and worth every penny but not nearly as user friendly as the Oceanic app.

To whom are you addressing your comments Things-should-work?

Had you taken the time to read this Discussion you would have learned that neither the OP nor Apple had anything to do with the problem, which the developer fixed some time ago. Presumably you also familiarized yourself with the developer's required legal notices that explicitly indemnify themselves against any harm that may result from using their product. If you had experienced harm as a result of its use, the very first reply to this Discussion described how to proceed.

Best wishes.
