Messages app not showing filter options on iPhone SE

I recently purchased an iPhone SE for my partner and it's the same model as mine.

Her Messages app doesn't show the filter option which when selected gives a screen with All Messages, Known senders, Unknown Senders, Unread Messages and Recently Deleted options.

I've seen posts suggesting making changes in Settings-Messages to fix but Messages doesn't show as an item under Settings on either her SE or my own.

When I open the Message app on her phone it shows the list of messages with an Edit option on the top left and the new message symbol on the top right.

When I open the app on my phone I have a Filters option where her Edit option shows.

Any suggestions on how I can give her the options?

Should we have Messages showing under Settings and, if so, how do we get it?

Go to Settings/Messages, or Settings/Apps/Messages in the latest iOS

Scroll down and turn on Filter Unknown Senders.

Exit out of Settings and check the iMessages app.

The Filters option should now appear at the top/left of the iMessages app.

That did the trick.

All the posts I'd checked before while trying to sort it spoke of going into Settings/Messages.

I was sure I'd seen it there before but it was missing.

Appreciate the help.
