iPhone 16 Pro battery draining so quickly

Bought the iphone 16 Pro last week. Battery life is supposed to cover 20 hours. My phone isn't making it to 11 hours. I have Apple Care. Will probably replace. Has anyone else run into this?

Know this: if you get this phone, you will need to replace everything: home and car charger, headphones...all new jacks. I thought there was an act of Congress about this. Apple gives you a cord with the phone. I imagine this will come to another 100.00 easily.

Assuming a metal locker, that’s essentially a Faraday cage that no signals can penetrate. If you didn’t put it in Airplane mode the poor phone kept trying and failing to connect to the cellular network using full power in the hope of getting an answer. The cellular radio uses a huge amount of energy for weak or no signal situations, which is where your battery energy went.

That is just wrong in many ways. The cord that comes with the phone is a USB-C to USB-C, which is compatible with any USB power source that can provide more than 12 watts. And you can get a USB-C to USB-A cord for under $10 to connect to your car and older power sources that you have. Every mobile device I have bought in the past 3 years, from cameras to my Ouraring charger to a battery powered tire inflator have had a USB-C connector. Apple was one of the last to switch, and that was due to the EU.

It also has nothing to do with an Act of Congress; Congress has said absolutely nothing about this standardization. There is an EU requirement that all devices must have a USB-C connector, which is one reason the iPhone 15 and 16, all MacBooks and all newer iPads have a USB-C connector. If it wasn’t for the EU Apple products would probably still have Lightening connectors.

You can also get USB-C to USB-A adapters, and also USB-C to lightning adapters, generally under $10. And I didn’t think anyone uses wired headphones anymore with the ubiquity of Bluetooth, but if you do the adapters I mentioned would solve the problem.

Battery life depends on usage patterns. And Apple does not say it will last 20 hours; the tech specs list several usage patterns, with the battery life for each. But it doesn’t specify all possible usage patterns, and the numbers it does provide all say “up to”. There are too many variables that affect battery life, such as the cellular network signal strength (one bar uses 10 times as much energy as full 4 bars), 5G uses more than LTE, streaming video uses a lot more than just watching a downloaded video, and interactive online games use a huge amount of energy. Go to Settings/Battery and you can see what is using your battery energy.

hi Same here! I just bought my iphone 16 Pro Oct.15th 5 days ago and fully charged at 100% at 8am. By 12noon minimal use it was at 75%, and by 6pm 39%.(not used for any watching or streaming or not even using it like a computer, no long coversations and not using Google Maps to travel far...... This is just so unfair and awful. Is Apple doing ANYTHING about this, So many of us here are voicing the same issue and to no avail for a solution.

Subsequent to my chatting with Apple support I was getting more and more frustrated and was finally told to call a US number which I did. The lady who I spoke to after analyzing different things told me to turn off background app refresh from settings. This has so far stopped unusual battery drainage. However the other issues of camera malfunction and freezing still need to be addressed

I guess you got a different cord than I did? It’s not a usc to usc. This does fit the same box from the c to the lightening. But it’s not a usb to c charger. I can happily send a picture. You would have to get an adapter. I even purchased the new AirPods because it’s a usc charger to make all my devices usc devices (I have a iPad Pro that charges with usc). But he is not wrong on the battery life. It is worse than my iPhone 14 Pro!
