password asked after sleep even if set to not require in security and privacy

Hello, I installed Ventura on an external disk since I need to continue in Mojave on my internal disk (iMacPro). I then disconnected that drive. After doing that all of a sudden, in Mojave, I need to give in my password after every sleep (immediately). This in spite that "require password" is unchecked in security and privacy. I've tried resetting the pram, rebooting, nothing helps. HELP!

iMac Pro, macOS 13.6

If your Mac keeps asking for your keychain password

Your keychain may be locked automatically if your computer has been inactive for a period of time or your user password and keychain password are out of sync. You can set a length of time that Keychain Access waits before automatically requiring you to enter your password again.

  1. In the Keychain Access app  on your Mac, click “login” in the Keychains list.
  2. Choose Edit > Change Settings for Keychain “login.”
  3. Select the “Lock after” checkbox, then enter a number of minutes.
  4. If you want to require a password each time the computer goes to sleep, select the “Lock when sleeping” checkbox.
  5. Click Save.

If all else fails give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE 1: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

NOTE 2: if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode. This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will insure a successful boot into Safe Mode.

Also have you installed and run any "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up", anti-virus or VPN apps on your Mac?

Is it trying to join iCoud or Apple Music, etc.?

If your Mac keeps asking for the login keychain password

The password of your macOS user account might not match the password of your login keychain. Either create a new login keychain or update it with your new password.

Thank you Old Toad and BDaqua for your concern.

I have not used any cleaning or optimizing software. The only thing I did was connect a 1TB hard drive to my Mac and with the "Install MacOS Ventura" software residing on my Mac install this OS on that external disk. The computer then started up from that external disk and everything seemed to be fne. However I then restarted from the internal MacOS Mojave to contine working in my normal environment. That's when the problem started. It seems to me that it is always the password of my user account that is requested. Actually I do not use the password on my computer since it is standing at home and nobody else uses it. It used to be so that the password was only asked when I had shut down the computer or logged out. The problem is that now it gets asked each time after the screen (the mac?) goes to sleep.
