Well, Apple (sort of) integrated Reminders and Calendar in the Sequoia upgrade, but alas you still can't time block.
I just sent the following to Apple with a link to a detailed analysis and suggestions for implementing a more sensible solution.
I was delighted Apple responded to requests for Calendar / Reminder integration, but implementation is very disappointing. The reason behind this hot topic was clearly to eliminate duplication between Calendar and Reminders (ie Tasks) and improve time management, but unfortunately there seems to be a lack of understanding that the time required to do tasks differs from task deadlines (ie ‘Remind me on…’). So, despite long-awaited upgrade there’s still no way to time-block tasks required to meet deadlines in Calendar without duplication!! 😩
Worse, my Calendar now messily overpopulated with every task ever made with a date attached: 852 of them. Nightmare.
The new solution seems to completely miss the point. Like you, I want to time block when I’ll work on tasks iN Calendar, but instead I now have a Calendar with major deadlines lost amongst tiny stuff like ‘buy milk' or ‘call X'. It’s really disappointing.
If you feel the same way Paul please do add your suggestion to Apple’s feedback site too. Feedback - Calendar - Apple
