Unable to search in my 'Photos App' after new update

I charge my phone nightly with the cable so ughh I don’t know if this will work for me. I hope Apple is working on changing this cause that was the best part of the photos/search function!

anyone else have any solutions?

That’s been so frustrating. I’m in a photo app searching for a specific thing and it only gives me text matches. I’m not searching for the word ____(whatevr) I’m actually searching for a picture of that.

Yep same as. Even before I updated to iOS 18.4 the search function wasn’t working- not even for albums. I have most of my photos in albums and it works intermittently. Try to search for some albums and it won’t work at all so I have to scroll down through the list to find the album I want. They say a smart phone like the iPhone 13 has more sophisticated tech than the Apollo 11 rocket that put a man on the moon- not seeing it if it can’t carry out a basic search function!!!

I immediately noticed this upon my first search. I kept putting off the update up until today, and I’m highly disappointed after doing so. Honestly wish I would've just waited until a version where the SEO bugs in the Photos app were fixed. This definitely taught me a lesson: I will never update the software version without allowing it to be running long enough for there to be information on what kind of potential bugs that version of iOS has.

The photo search option was probably my favorite feature on my phone. Sometimes it wants to work others it doesn’t. Doesn’t matter if it’s plugged in, on WiFi, not plugged in, not on WiFi it has randomly working and not working since the new IOS. I hate it. Apple you legit ruined my favorite thing about my phone.

Hi I’m on 18.4 version. I’ve tried everything you have suggested and to no avail. I try to search for Pool or Gym as I’ve done many times before and I get big fat Zero! This new version is such a backwards step it’s untrue. Apple do your due diligence and test test test before going live.

when is this going to be resolved ? I’m from the UK

I shouldn't have to go to the trouble of resetting my phone and going through all of that! Apple should do a better job of vetting their programs before they release them.

I am so tired of the lack of caring as far as checking everything out before new releases and then having to turn around and do three more updates just to try and fix the problem that they created for lack of due diligence. If anything ever happens to my iPhone, I am definitely never going back to an apple product.

The keyboard has been terrible for years and nobody has done anything about ii even though continual criticism continued to be given.

I resent the fact that I have to reset my phone just to make it work the way that it did before Apple messed it up.

I updated my phone when I purchased it a week ago. The photo search worked as always with the word "ask" replacing "search." Two days ago "ask" disappeared and "search" is back. Now when I search my photos by name I get the message to "try searching by a different name." I am slightly peeved!!! I take photos of the dogs at a rescue and use them in our adoption apps. Now when I search for the dogs by name they are not there!

Have you found a fix for this? I still cannot find anything. I did a search just trying to find a picture of my dog which we take tons of pictures. It tells me no searches available. You can type sky blue no matter what you do you cannot get a picture to show up anymore they absolutely destroyed photos if nobody’s found the solution are you putting your photos somewhere else that actually works? I’m just tired of the fight with Apple ever since I tried to go into the AI business. ? I’ll type exactly who I’m looking for an email from and it won’t find it but if I scroll 100,000 pages of emails, then I get it.

As everyone else, cannot search for photos AT ALL anymore, I can type in a single letter before comlleting a word and still will show no results. Even my named photo albums are not found when I search! Yet the magnifying glass for a search is still there, so why can’t it function?! I tried updating, turning off and back on, plugging several nights in a row to charge instead of wireless charge: NOTHING!!! I already hate the new interface but this makes it so infuriating! Way to go with going backwards in “progress” AGAIN Apple! I would like to know if there’s anyway of going back to the old iPhoto, this is just the absolute worse! I really hate using iPhoto’s now. I think I’ll be ditching iPhones for good at my next phone change if this doesn’t change soon. I can’t stand it! Who the **** does the testing and analysis, and decide that this is a good idea as a change?! They need to be fired. This is just ridiculous.

Using the search option in photos is a complete joke. Useless at this point. I will search for a specific image like white flowers, and a couple of the same flowers may show up along with several images of text. None of the many other flower images I have. The more they attempt to integrate AI the worse everything gets.

im here trying to find a photo of my birth certificate and it’s no longer popping up. I have 2 different kinds and in the beginning I saw one but it wasn’t the one I wanted , I now keep typing Birth certificate and neither the one I want or did t want shows up anymore . And to see all of everyone’s comments and Apple has yet to response is ridiculous to me . WTH Apple !?

Me too on an iphone 13, search completely broken, zero results. I hate updates…….
