Siri not responding on my iPhone 16 pro

‘Siri’ or ‘hey Siri’ isn’t responding on my new week old iPhone 16 pro running iOS18. It works when I press and hold the side button, but won’t respond to voice. I’ve tried turning the feature off and back on, thereby recalibrating the voice side of things, but still not joy.

There appear to be no other issues with the phone.

Anybody else experiencing the same?

Trying to text w/mic, won’t work. Siri, won’t work. Brightness, won’t work. Called 611, no help. Went to Apple Store, nuthin’. Ran out of options.

My 16 ProMax says voice controls are no longer listening.
