Apple Watch has stopped unlocking Mac
October 2024. I have read through the comments, tried virtually everything, and am pretty frustrated that it's still not working. Is this a bug that needs to be fixed? Any other odd fixes?

Just figure out than when you remove the watch to charge it and then you unlock it with the code on the watch screen doesn't work on password unlocks on Mac.
If you try to unlock it from your phone still doesn't work with mac passwords.
If you close bt and open it again still doesn't work.
Also when all these happened I couldn't find option to unlock with Apple Watch my Mac.
Not even after Apple Watch is unlocked.. or restarted
Strange, it works randomly now.
Same here. It started working after I restarted my watch. But that last a couple times only. Then stopped working again. Must be a bug.
Apple Watch 8 running latest watchOS
M1 iMac running macOS 15
M3 Mac Book Pro running macOS 15
None work.
Apple Watch Ultra 2 here, had this issue a week ago. Still on Sonoma and by flipping the switch to off and on again on System Settings > Touch ID and Password, everything is working back to normal. Also, try to turn off all connectivity for Apple watch like bluetooth, wifi etc!
Needed to run out for work, got the MacBook (and watch) with me sonow I got back I can see the option to unlock via Apple Watch again in Settings app.
It might be a bug or something. Still havent updated to Sequoia or iOS 18/watchOS 11 :)
I'm keep looking til I find it!
After getting new iPhone 16 Pro on iOS 18.0.0, and updating Apple Watch 7 to watchOS 11, unlocking Mac automatically stopped working after several days. Found option in Mac settings Settings->Apple Watch set to off, but it would not enable. Tried suggestions here and elsewhere to no avail. What worked was unpairing and pairing the watch with the iPhone. Then was able to finally activate automatic wake-up in Mac settings under Login Password.
I'm using an Apple Watch Ultra1 and Mac Mini M1.
I also noticed it's stopped allowing me to double-click on my watch to activate access to passwords and more sensitive stuff like that.
I just tried that. Still nothing. Thanks for the suggestions, though.
I thought the update to the new WatchOS 11 would solve the problem, but nothing. It was just working last week, too.
I just updated everything, but still no dice.
