ios 18 emoji reactions

I just updated my 13 pro to ios 18 and when I react to imessages with an emoji other than one of the originals it shows up as a bubble. But when my friends who have updated to ios 18 do the same it sends a text to me saying "reacted emoji to" whatever text I sent. I tried restarting my phone but it's still not working :(

Big emojis in Messenger on iPhone In messenger some of my emojis get big - and sent immediately - even though I just pres them in the middle of a text. know how to hold an emoji and sent a big one but it is not what happens here. Emojis moving around when sending multiple same emojis?! For example, if you want to send three laughing emojis, you can't because it moves to a different place and you need to "search" for that emoji. When using the "recently used" emojis, they move around while typing. Also emojis are now HUGE and you need to scroll more for certain emojis... It is not a problem if they move around after you stop typing/adding emojis to the chat, but this way it is unusable. Edit: It was not this way on the iOS 17. It was in the same place until you finished the message. I regret updating to iOS 18.1 only because of this...
