Unable to text my Mother to her Android phone from my iPhone 13 post iOS 18 update.

I just updated my phone to IOS 18 and everything has been fine, but my mom has an Android phone and my phone doesn't let me text her cell phone number. She has an iPhone 15 as her work phone and whenever I text her cell phone number it automatically corrects to her work phone number even though I have deleted and blocked her work number multiple times. Whenever I text her cell phone number the messages send green because it is an Android, but then she will text me back saying I am texting her work phone. This problem is recent because the first couple of days after I updated my phone to IOS 18 it was working fine, I don't know what happened.

I have tried EVERYTHING suggested to resolve this issue and I’m still unable to text my husband (android). It has to do with the recent update! Prior to the IOS 18 update I had no issues texting him. Please help! This is very frustrating!!

After the IOS 18.0.1 update, I noticed iMessages to Android phones were failing. If I forced the failed message to resend as SMS, the text sent successfully. I think failures were actually happening before 18.0.1 but didn't investigate. When I checked the 18.0.1 message app settings, I found the RCS setting defaulted to On. I turned RCS off and rebooted the IPhone. Subsequent iMessage texts to Androids are now working.

Im literally downloading the new update. Will report back. Must have just dropped as I literally bought a new iPhone thinking it was an issue with older phones. Foolish of me. Fingers crossed it fixes the Android issue.

I cannot communicate with some Android users. And any group chat with Android users is useless for me as nothing gets through to anyone in the group.

Update: was told I would receive follow up in a day. Didn't hear back and reached out to them after a couple days. They said they had to spit the issue into three parts and "Unfortunately we are going to have to look at these issue separately even though they maybe connected in some way

Right now the expected response time for this would be 3 to 5 days"

Never heard back from them and it's now been 3 weeks. Haven't followed up as these are definitely bugs, and I doubt there's much that can be done on my end to help fix them.

I finally figured out how to fix this issue!!! You have to go to the message thread, go into their profile (from the top of the message), click on their info and then it seems to change your settings... it's almost like it's filtering your messages to not send cuz there is a glitch with your contact. I have 2 lines, one is an e-sim and it seems to be until I go into their profile like I'm going to edit it... I also noticed if I change from one number to the other and back, that also fixed it... Super strange...
