podcasts plays random shows next

Why does the podcast app add random shows to my queue and plays them after I listen to one of my podcasts although I have continuous playback off. This is annoying especially since the shows it chooses are sometimes offensive to me. This was not a problem before I updated to iOS 18.

Why are Apple Podcasts playing a random show by default when the current podcast ends? I am so frustrated listening to your podcast app. I typically listen to many episodes from one specific show, one after another. I don’t know if it was the iOS 18 update back in 2024, but for a long time now, each time an episode from a specific show ends, another show will play right afterwards— a show that I do not want to listen to. Even if I manually remove every single show from the Up Next area, the next day, there will be a whole bunch of random shows back in there. The only way to solve this annoyance is to uncheck continuous play. That doesn’t stop the random shows from appearing up next. How can I stop my Podcasts from auto-queuing? Any suggestions on how to stop podcast from automatically going into the Up Next queue? In addition, they are also being marked just played when they go into that queue. The continuous playback is off and fortunately has stopped, but this is very irritating. To make sure I don’t lose anything I download all of my new releases. Thanks for any fixes. I am updated to iOS 18. [Re-Titled By Moderator]

Podcast app closing down My Apple Podcast app closes almost immediately after I open it on my iphone. This started after my phone downloaded the update.

many of us seeing this in iOS 18! It will also mark episodes (the one it randomly tries to play next) as played when you haven’t actually played it.
