Bluetooth connection issues on iPhone 16 Pro

just upgrade to the iphone 16 pro and bluetooth is stuttering with any devices, and doesn’t want to connect 90% of the time. Carplay, Garnin, Headphones.

I’ve tried turning off bluetooth, hard reset on the phone and still no luck….

Found the problem, if you guys did choose to setup your iphone from a backup or from your old iphone then you all will get the dame issue, if you did setup as a new iphone then you wouldnt have gotten the bluetooth issue, there is a fix, just go to Settings-General and then scroll down to reset iPhone and then choose Reset network setting, after that phone wil reboot and your Bluetooth will work as it should be!

This post is all over the place because multiple people have hijacked the thread from the OP. I can’t change that sorry.

My post is directed at ChrisMacEachen as noted in my post. Just like posted to me. See the fine print in your post.

Yep! I was just offering a hopefully-helpful link to threads that might better address Chris’ post.

They updated the app two weeks ago, and seem to release bug fixes at least once a month. I can appreciate the frustration when they don’t reply. I’d give support another try and in the meantime contact Apple Support and see what they suggest.

That sounds like a different issue than is discussed in this thread — but it looks like there are several other threads focused on exactly what you’re seeing.

(For what it’s worth, the good news for 16e owners experiencing this issue is it sounds like their issue is more widely reported than the connection issues discussed in this thread, which likely increases the chance it’ll be addressed in an upcoming software update.)

If it happens in specific places, and the same places every time, it is almost certainly microwave interference→Resolve Wi-Fi and Bluetooth issues caused by wireless interference - Apple Support. The frequency range used by Bluetooth is in an unlicensed band, and is also included in S band (2 to 4 GHz) radar. Uses include airport surveillance radar, air traffic control radar, surface ship radar, weather radar and ground penetrating radar. So if you are near an airport, body of water when larger boats and ships or weather stations that is a likely cause. Bluetooth’s 2.4 GHz is right in the middle of S band.

Here’s the troubleshooting steps from your product’s owners manual.

>>It is important to minimize potential Bluetooth interference from some household appliances such as some power sources or other wireless devices:

  • 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz phones
  • Microwave ovens
  • Direct Satellite Service (DSS)
  • Wireless speakers
  • Certain external monitors and LCD displays

In general any wireless device that transmits in the 2.4GHz range may disrupt the Bluetooth connection to Sprout 100.

If you are having trouble establishing a solid connection try moving Sprout100 to an isolated area free from any potential interference and test the connection there.<<

Have you tried any of the steps? The there are reports that BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) devices are causing intermittent connection issues.

iPhone has NEVER paired with a computer via Bluetooth, Mac or otherwise. When you have your AirPods and want to use them on your MacBook Pro, tap the Bluetooth icon at the top of the MacBook screen and look for your AirPods and then tap them to use them on your Mac.

I'm not sure what the current use case would be for Bluetooth pairing an iPhone to a Mac — back when I did it, the justification was using Bluetooth instead of Personal Hotspot to access the internet from a MacBook via an iPhone, something I believe is no longer supported on the latest macOS versions and hardware — but it's wrong to say it was NEVER supported, and it might even also be wrong to suggest there's no longer a use case for it.

Anyway, here's a screenshot showing where it used to be managed in older macOS versions:

It's fine — I didn't make that screenshot myself (I no longer have a use case for Bluetooth PAN on my MacBook, nor time to try setting it up for the purpose of this discussion), but it's from one of the many articles you'll find out there when you Google how to pair your iPhone and Mac.

Here are a couple more — one from a Mac displaying a connected iPhone, and another from a different article made with an iPhone displaying a connected Mac:

I'm definitely not trying to drag anybody here, and I'm also painfully aware that the functionality of Apple devices can change as OS software updates — sometimes even functionality for some users' job-critical use cases.

But this isn't just pedanticism. When users are describing difficulty doing things they've always and very recently been able to do before upgrading to the current iPhone 16 hardware, it's important to be clear about what has or hasn't ever been possible with past hardware.

ted2tall never said they were talking about Bluetooth PAN specifically, or anything that would indicate that Personal Hotspot was the way to resolve their issue. Without more information, I'm not sure it's possible for any of us to say whether they're experiencing a technical issue or reduced or modified functionality — but if they're trying to accomplish something they'd been doing with their iPhone 11 as recently as September, it's quite possible they're having the same issues other users are describing here.
