I want to have any purchases that I make direct debited from my main checking account and not applied to my Apple Card balance. My wife can do this but she doesn’t have an Apple Card, just Apple Cash. Any suggestions?

The Apple Card Mastercard is a credit card, not a debit card. So no, what you ask for is not possible. It’s how all credits cards work. Apple Cash, on the other other hand, is a debit card.
